Have you been wondering how fast homes are selling this summer? Let’s take a look at the Median Days on Market for single-family residences across our four surrounding counties in July 2025 according to California Regional MLS data*:
Los Angeles County: 25 days
Orange County: 18 days
Riverside County: 33 days
San Bernardino County: 25 days
Homes in Orange County are selling the fastest (about two and a half weeks on the market) while homes in Riverside County are taking just over four and a half weeks to sell.
You might be asking: “What’s a normal amount of time for a home to stay on the market?”
It depends!
According to the California Association of Realtors (CAR), which tracks historical data on median days on market for existing detached homes, there’s been quite a range over the years**. For example:
In Spring 2021, during the peak of the market frenzy in Los Angeles County, the median was as low as 7 days.
Back in Summer 2015, homes in Los Angeles County sat on the market for around 40 days.
The time it takes to sell a home depends on several factors—inventory levels, buyer demand, and the time of year, to name a few.

With a median days on market in the 2-5 week range, we’re in a more balanced and manageable market. That’s great news if you’re a move-up buyer—especially if you’re planning a contingent sale, where you sell your current home and buy your next one at the same time.
In 2021, when homes were flying off the market in single-digit days, coordinating both transactions was stressful and often unrealistic. Today, there’s more breathing room and more opportunity.
What about the headlines about “Buyer’s market” and “Power shift”?
