Veterans Day falls on November 11th every year and this year it is observed on Monday, November 11. Although often confused, there is a difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. “Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.”*

Here are 3 facts about our Veterans*:

1. 10 percent of living veterans are women.

2. Of the 16 million Americans who served during World War II, about 119,550 were still alive as of 2023.

3. As of 2023, the top three states with the highest percentage of veterans were Alaska, Virginia and Wyoming.

Many restaurants and businesses are offering deals for veterans. California Pizza Kitchen, In-N-Out Burger, iHop, and more are offering free or discounted meals, drinks, and deserts. Check out this list here:

As former President Harry S Truman said, “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”

As REALTORS, we often meet and work with Veterans who are using their VA Loan to buy a home. This is a benefit for American Veterans. If you know someone who is a Veteran who needs more information about purchasing with their VA loan, please send them our way so we can help provide more information.
