The proverb, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” rings true in real estate. A fixer-upper home that is a nightmare to the current owner is seen as a world of possibility for the buyer. The house that needs to get remodeled down to the studs seems like a headache to one person, but an exciting chance to create something new to someone else.

The estate sale company Blue Moon Estate Sales recently came to our office KALEO Real Estate and shared the information about their services with us REALTORS. We maintain a list of contacts for estate sales, junk hauling, staging, and other related services so that we can best create a solution for our clients. When you call us to list, we are the problem solver!

Most of us would admit we have too much “stuff”, and often a few trips  to Goodwill won’t begin to put a dent in the boxes in the garage.

If you contact us to sell, whether it is your own home or a home that you inherited, we will talk through the necessary steps to get the home ready for market. Sometimes one of the steps is doing an estate sale — which is where we bring in the experts.

What are people buying at estate sales? Before you start taking boxes to charity, call us to talk about selling your home and we will direct you to estate sales resources. Estate Sale professionals can best assess what has value in the home and what estate sale shoppers want.

For example, in 2023, the Top 5 items purchased at Blue Moon Estate Sales, in order on number of items purchased were:

  1. Decor – 266,760 items
  2. Kitchen Goods – 200,605 items
  3. Tools & Yard Goods – 169,228 items
  4. Clothing – 141,000 items
  5. Media – 134,504 items

Notice that jewelry and furniture weren’t even on the top five list although they were #9 and #10 respectively.

From helping you navigate what to do with the stuff in the house to creating a calendar timeline of when the house is going to market, we are a full-service REALTOR and looking forward to helping you. Please refer us to your friends & family — we appreciate your endorsement and support of our business.
