A lot has changed in the past thirty years: fashion, logos of big brands, technology, and the landscape of the housing market. The National Association of REALTORS conducts surveys of home buyers and sellers to better understand the industry.

Here are a few interesting changes from 1981 to 2021:
1. 95% of home buyers in 2021 used the internet to search for homes (which is why we do so much online marketing & social media promotion of properties)
2. Down payments are down from 20 percent to 13 percent
3. First time home buyers are getting older with the median age of first time buyers increasing from 29 years old to 33 years old
4. More single females are buying homes (up 8 percent from 11% to 19%)

5. The age of a repeat buyer has increased from 36 years old to 56 years old!

January is the month of setting goals, starting diets, and resetting our routines. It is also the time that most of us budget the year and set financial plans. If you are considering purchasing a home this year or selling your home (or an investment or vacation home), then please contact us. We are doing meetings however you feel comfortable — at your favorite coffee shop, over the phone, or Zoom — and we would love to talk!
