A Monday off, the chance to relax, head out of town for a long weekend, or catch up on projects around the house: Labor Day is always met with open arms.

As the US Department of Labor explained, Labor Day is “an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers.”*

In June 1894, “President Grover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September of each year a national holiday”*.

Here are 5 fun ways to celebrate your Labor Day:

1. Gourmet Hot Dog Bar –

Add toppings like bacon, sauerkraut, nacho cheese, jalapeños, grilled onions, and avocado to your picnic table and let your friends & family experiment with their best creation. What are your recommendations?

2. Backyard Olympics –

In honor of the summer Olympics, compete in diving, races, and other sports! Just make sure to have lots of water because this weekend will be hot!

3. Go to the Beach –

We are warning you — it will be busy, but with an umbrella and cooler of snacks & drinks, it is a great way to celebrate the end of summer!

4. Projector Movie –

Throw up a projector & bring your popcorn outside. Watch a movie like Captain America, Sandlot, His Girl Friday or stream The Office

5. Chocolate Chip Cookies & Vanilla Ice Cream –

Have you tried chocolate chip cookies on your barbecue? Grab a cast iron pan, press in your dough, and make a cookie sundae!
