One of the lessons of 2020 has been to slow down. The Stay-at-Home order, now about 6 months ago, forced us to stay at home. Back then, do you remember seeing more people going for evening walks and sitting spaced out at the park? Trends suggest that people are enjoying the seasons and weather in a more contemplative way than before.

With the busyness of re-opening local counties and nonstop news broadcasts on the election, it is a good idea to set aside time to pursue hobbies and leisure activities.

Here are ten ideas for how to enjoy your Fall in Southern California:

1. Go for a hike and enjoy the crisp Autumn weather. Check online to make sure your trail is open and follow any COVID guidelines on masks and social distancing

2. Make a homemade pie, crust and filling from scratch. If you are competitive, make teams within your household and judge who made the best pie

3. Take etching of leaves in a journal and write down the type of leaf and where you found it

4. Watch fall or Halloween themed movies: Hocus Pocus, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, Little Women, or a scary movie!

5. Create a Fall Gratitude list and write down things you are grateful for during October and November leading up to Thanksgiving

6. Decorate your doorstep with pumpkins and gourds

7. Head to Trader Joe’s and grab the best Pumpkin flavored treats! Trader Joe’s has pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin ice cream,  pumpkin butter, pumpkin coffee, and more! The challenge will not be finding the pumpkin treats, but getting out of the store under your budget!

8. Swap your morning or afternoon coffee with an autumn spiced chai, hot tea, or warm cider for a cozy treat

9. Start your holiday shopping early and give yourself a goal of being done with Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving! Then you can sit back during December and enjoy the carols and holiday season

10. Snuggle up and read a book. Some friends say that their favorite autumn read is Harry Potter, but pick up a classic or new fiction depending on your taste

11. Plan your holiday cards and take photos with your family in nature this fall. Get them ordered soon and you can start mailing them in November!

12. Meet up with a friend for a cool evening walk (socially distanced) and get some much needed social time

What will the local real estate market look like this fall? Spring buyers were pushed into summer and summer buyers will trickle into fall especially as low housing inventory is causing multiple offers, bidding wars, and homes flying off the market.

Our real estate brokerage is working with sellers and buyers right now and would love to share what we are doing to give them a competitive edge. Contact us at info@kaleorealestate.com or 626-609-2130
