In the past month, our office KALEO Real Estate Company and real estate community have been pivoting and educating ourselves on how to best serve our clients during this COVID-19 pandemic. No open houses, signing documents electronically through digital signature servings, and meeting virtually through Google video conferencing are a few of the ways we are adapting.

We are not “business as usual” because these are not ordinary business circumstances.

Real estate was declared an essential business in California, but local authorities can still implement more strict regulations on conducting business. We are following the recommended Best Practices given by the California Association of Realtors (CAR) for how to conduct real estate transactions. CAR has released new forms and contracts to aid REALTORS in their transactions so that the buyers and sellers that they represent are informed about the risks of COVID-19 and protected as much as possible. If you are considering listing your home or purchasing a home this spring during the quarantine and Stay at Home measure, then please reach out to our office to see how local regulations will affect your real estate transfer.

Stress and Anxiety during COVID-19

If you have found yourself stressed out or more anxious during this time, then you are not alone. Financial hardship, uncertainty, healthy risks, isolation, and other factors can contribute to feelings of loneliness, frustration, stress, grief, and anxiety.

Unfortunately, there is considerable uncertainty and we do not have a definite end date. In these times, you can learn to cope with COVID-19, but it takes intentionality in our behavior.

8 Ways to Cope with COVID-19

As the rainy weather continues and we are home bound, here are 8 tips for how to cope with COVID-19. These coping strategies will hopefully help you get through isolation, quarantine, or continuing to go into work. We are all experiencing the coronavirus pandemic differently, but we are also all experiencing it together.

1. Get Informed

Get informed with what you can do to protect you and your family by reading through the CDC’s website. Getting the facts can help calm fears because you can understand the steps you need to take. Here is the link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

2. Step Away

Step away from reading the news when you start to feel anxious or overwhelmed or set a timer for how long you want to read the news or use social media everyday

3. Get Outside

Get outside, even if only to your backyard, front yard, or patio for fresh air at least once a day

4. Call a Friend

Call or video chat with a friend to stay connected

5. Be Creative

Incorporate something creative into each day. Channel your creativity by trying a new recipe, reading, journaling, playing an instrument, sketching, or watercoloring. Even sewing a cloth mask is a creative outlet!

6. Move Around

Start moving! Go for a walk or run around the neighborhood, try a Youtube video workout, dance in the kitchen, or do some reps with free weights

7. Look Within

Meditate, journal, or stay connected with your faith community

8. Be Grateful

Count 3 things you are grateful for every morning before starting your day (whether you are helping your kids with their distance learning, going to work at an essential business, or working from home)

How are you coping with the coronavirus pandemic?

As crazy as it seems, our office still has new listings going live and buyers opening up escrow. The reality for us REALTORS is that we are here to help when your life circumstances dictate when a move is necessary. Some clients are moving out of state, changing jobs, or are about to have a baby. We operate on your timeline for when it makes sense, not our own. Email or call our office today if you have questions about selling.
